About Rare Live

Some of its caption seems wrong:
London, Rainbow Theatre (74.11.20) - 3,500
London, Hammersmith Odeon (75.12.24) - 3,500
London, Earls Court (77.6.6) - 17,000
Texas, Houston, The Sam Houston (77.12.11) - 12,000
Paris, Pavillion De Paris (79.2.28) - 9,000
Argentina, Buenos Aires, Velez Sarfield (81.3.8) - 30,000 (in 1981, Queen had a concert at Velez Sarfield three times: 2/28, 3/1, 3/8. I believe that the scene included is performed in March 1st. I have the video filmed fully on the day and it is the only concert filmed fully among the three concert.
2/28: Mustapha + Death On Two Legs were performed.
3/1: no Killer Queen. Medley was stared with I'm In Love With My Car
3/8: no KQ. Medley was stared with I'm In Love With My Car, but Another One Bites The Dust was with Diego Maradona on stage.
Brazil, Sao Paulo, Morumbi Stadium (81.3.20) - 70,000
Germany, Frankfurt, Festhalle (82.4.28) - 14,000 keyboards: Morgan Fisher
Austria, Vienna, Stadthalle (82.5.13) - 15,000 (some source insists 5/12. On Rare Live, this source features on AOBTD and Maybe on GSTQ. On GSTQ, "Freddie starts to sing along the anthem the similar way as he makes the audience sing". The same as bootleg on 5/12. Check this: http://queencdr.tripod.com/concerts/120582.html   )
Milton Keynes, The Milton Keynes Bowl (82.6.5) - 40,000
Japan, Osaka, Hankyu Stadium (82.10.24) - 40,000 (source is from "Live In Japan (JVC VHM-58035 , reissue Toshiba EMI TOLW-3303)". keyboards: Fred Mandell. So the caption was absolutely wrong. "82/11/3 Tokyo Seibu Lions Stadium" is right. The last concert in Hot Space Tour.)
Brazil, Rio De Janeiro (85.1.12) - 250,000 (Rock In Rio)
Australia, Sydney, Entertainment Centre (85.5.25) - 10,500 (Queen had no concert in Sydney on May 25th. So I believe that the caption should be corrected as April 25th.)
Japan, Tokyo, Yogishi Auditorium (85.5.11) - 14,000 ("We Are The Champions - Final Live In Japan" Video)
London, Wembley Stadium (85.7.13) - 72,000 (Live Aid)
London, Wembley Stadium (86.7.11) - 72,000 keyboards: Spike Edney("Live at Wembley '86" video)
Knebworth, Knebworth Park (86.8.9) - 140,000 (The last concert in Magic Tour)

<note>
The first half of "Liar" was filmed on July 9th 1973.
The video source of "Sheer Heart Attack" was mixture of various concert including "Houston, Texas, The Sam Houston (77.12.11)".

Others are from:
Tokyo 1975.4.19
Hyde Park 1976.9.18
Concert For Kampuchea 1979.12.26
Montreal 1981.11.24 & 25 ("We Will Rock You" Video, on RL video cover says 1980. of course it's wrong)
Newcastle 1986.7.9 (I didn't find any possible source from "Rare Live" yet)
Budapest 1986.7.27 (Budapest)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I posted that document on Queenzone.com, and someone replied this:

- I Want It All
a whole lot of bollocks from all sort of gigs. who cares ?

- Crazy Little Thing Called Love
mainly Tokyo, Seibu Lions Stadium, November 3rd 1982
with excerpts from Tokyo, Yogishi (Yoyogi ?) Swimming Pool Auditorium, May 11th 1985
the music itself seems to be complete though.

-Liar
first half
London,St. John's Wood Studios, October 1st 1973 (the one where
their second promo video-shoot took place. The KYA of these
sessions can be seen on Box Of Flix)...rehearsal studios my arse.
I think the DoRos knew exactly that it wasn't a rehearsal...bloody
rip-off ! It's the studio version of course.
additional excerpts:
London, Brewer Street Studios, 9th of August 1974
(that's where their first ever video-shoot took place. The Liar
version can also be seen on Box Of Flix. The excerpts on Rare Live are
very sparse and are hard to spot).
second half:
London, Rainbow Theatre, November 20th 1974
edited of course.

-improvised yeah-yeah-alright-bollocks-with-awesome-drum-solo
Buenos Aires, Velez Sarfield, March 8th 1981.
Ho Sang Lee mentioned that he thinks it's March 1st (the 2nd night)
and he could be right. I'm not entirely sure if it's the 2nd or
the 3rd night.
just a snippet

-Another One Bites The Dust
first half:Buenos Aires, Velez Sarfield, March 8th 1981.
(this time I'm pretty sure that it's the 3rd night)
second half:
Vienna, Stadthalle, May 13th 1982.
with some barely noticed snippets of Frankfurt, Festhalle, April
28th 1982.
edited (rotters !)

-Rock'n'Roll Medley
London, Hammersmith Odean, December 24th 1975 (not 1974)
wow, they actually used one concert for one song. Interesting.
It's edited though. Not the full medley.

-My Melancholy Blues
Houston, The Summit, December 11th 1977
again, rather bearable. Edited though. Not the full version.

-Hammer To Fall
London, Wembley Stadium, July 12th 1986
that's typical: the only time that they decide to leave
a performance untouched is when they use something that
is available on video anyway (to be fair: it wasn't when "Rare Live" was
out though)
yeah, it's full performance, I can't believe myself.

-Killer Queen
London, Earls Court, June 6th, 1977
it may seem like an edit, but it's actually the full performance
(it was part of a medley, that's why it stops so abruptly).
Amazing, to unedited songs in row !

-We Will Rock You
London, Wembley Stadium, July 13th 1985
well, again an unedited performance. The Live Aid version isn't
longer. That was the official "uncut" block of the whole vid
and an example of what this vid could have been if some
one competent would have done the job...

-Somebody To Love
UK, Milton Keynes, The Milton Keynes Bowl, June 5th 1982
brilliant live version, but this edit is so crude, it leaves me gagging.
awful !

-Tie Your Mother Down
Paris, Pavillion De Paris, February 28th 1979
(piss poor sound and picture quality. You can be sure that
this gig will never be released officially, despite what some
people may say about it)
Frankfurt, Festhalle, April 28th 1982
(Brian's guitar is almost inaudible, what the hell is that ?)
Brazil, Rio De Janeiro, January 19th
(combined with some tiny snippets of the Tokyo '85 performance
which generally seems to be the official DoRo-filler for all occasions)
what a disgusting hick-hack...no wonders there's not much
left of TYMD.

-Keep Yourself Alive
London, St. Johns Wood Studios, October 1st 1973
(for the case you're thinking "what the hell is he telling, isn't
it the Hammersmith concert ?"...well, the sound is Hammersmith
but half of the pictures of the so-called "1974"-era comes
from that old promo vid - as seen on Box Of Flix - for whatever
reasons)
London, Hammersmith Odean, December 24th 1975 (not 1974)
that's the other part of the "1974"-era, of course
Tokyo, Yoyogi (Yogishi ?) Swimming Pool Auditorium, May 11th 1985
yes, that's the 1985-version. They even found the correct year.
Aren't they clever ?
ahem...edited...mutilated...dismembered...binged and purged.

-Love Of My Live
Sao Paulo, Morumbi Stadium, March 20th 1981
they stuck to one gig for a change. However, if Freddie and
Brian didn't play an abriged version that evening, it is certainly
shortened

-Stone Cold Crazy
London, Rainbow Theatre, November 20th 1974
oh what an honour, Hannes and Rudi allow us to witness
a full, unedited performance of a song. You're too generous !

-Radio Ga Ga
Sydney, Entertainment Centre, April (!) 25th 1985
audience-filmed concert videos suck.
Stevenage, Knebworth Park, August 9th 1986
the funny thing is: except for the numerous audience shots
and the bit at the end when John slams his bass guitar into
the amp-wall, all band-footage that is supposedly from
Knebworth is actually taken either from the Sidney-gig
or some other Works-tour gig (Knebworth didn't have cog-wheels
in the background and Fred certainly didn't wear those spandex
pants) with the Knebworth sound dubbed over.
Of course, there's hardly anything left of the song itself.

-You Take My Breath Away
Earl's Court, June 6th 1977
nice song, but why did it have to stop after two verses ?
Another shitty edit. I've been told that there are snippets
of the Tokyo '82 gig in there. Can't recall any though.

-Sheer Heart Attack
Houston, The Summit, December 11th 1977
that's where the stuff at the start and most of the sound comes from
London, Hammersmith Odeon (Kampuchea concert), December 26th 1979
Buenos Aires, Velez Sarfield, March 8th (?) 1981
Paris, Pavillion De Paris, February 28th 1979
Tokyo, Yoyogi (or whatever) Swimming Pool Auditorium, May 11th 1985
that's where most of the other stuff comes from...
what a terrible mess

-We Are The Champions
Frankfurt, Festhalle, April 28th
with some snippets of Vienna, Stadthalle, May 13th
Stevenage, Knebworth Park, August 9th
that's where the other part comes from.
The song is far from complete, of course.

-God Save The Queen
Vienna
